Dysport® – Facial Injection

OVERVIEW

As the first FDA-approved alternative filler to BOTOX®, Dysport is a highly effective injectable used to treat moderate to severe frown lines found in between the eyebrows. Since these lines and winkles are caused by muscle activity, Houston cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Sumpter, uses Dysport to control this activity. Dysport is injected into these muscles in order to diminish the lines and wrinkles to produce a smoother appearance. While it may take between 3 and 7 days to see the full effects, skin can be improved for up to 4 months with Dysport.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Dysport is administered during an in-office appointment that generally lasts about 30 minutes to an hour. The medication is injected through a small needle to identified areas on the face that are marked with ink prior to injection. To help control discomfort, a numbing anesthetic may be applied and cold compresses are used to help control bruising and swelling. The amount of medicine injected varies by patient as some individuals will have deeper, broader wrinkles while others will only have fine lines to address.

AFTER TREATMENT

After treatment, there will be some mild redness and swelling, but this goes away within a couple of hours. Another difference between BOTOX and Dysport, is that the results from a Dysport injection has shown to take effect a day or two sooner. In addition, some say it lasts just a bit longer and diffuses further from the injection site.

EXPECTED COST

The cost for a  Dysport treatment session varies by patient depending on how many syringes of the product are needed to attain the desired results. The cost for one full syringe usually averages about $250 -$400. Some patients will require several syringes, while others may only need a single syringe.

REJUVENATE YOUR FACE!

Dysport is a safe and effective wrinkle treatment that is used by cosmetic surgeons far and wide. Many patients seeking to rejuvenate their facial appearance may decide to combine Dysport with an injectable filler for optimal results. This is sometimes labeled as a “liquid facelift” and can take years off of your facial appearance.
